FARRM is non-discriminatory. We intake and care for all animals, young and old alike. FARRM often intakes animals that are already in their senior years, in need of a soft landing and specialized care. In other cases, FARRM has been home to animals that have aged gracefully into old age. The natural aging process means there will be health and medical issues as end of life draws nearer.

 

With aging, past neglect and trauma can exacerbate a pre-existing condition or cause age-related issues sooner. Sometimes these issues are short-term, but more often than not they require ongoing treatment or medications. We’ve established a senior retirement fund dedicated to the costs, small and large, that come with caring for our aging residents. Sometimes this means a bag of apples for daily medications to be given to residents with ease, or Epsom salts for a medical soak, and sometimes this means regular radiographs or arthritis medication as chronic conditions must be monitored and assessed regularly for quality of life.

 

Our seniors are proof that with love and kindness, and a little extra attention, old age should be seen as a blessing that few are afforded.
